抄録: In this paper the writer describes the geology of a quadrangular area (about 132 sq. km.) including Omiya-mati and the district adjoining it at the southwestern foot of Volcano Huzi. The area which is bounded on its west by the lower course of the Huzi-kawa and its largest tributary, the Siba-kawa, is divided topographically into two parts by the Urui-gawa that runs in a NW.-SE. direction through the central part of the area. The western part which is respectively bounded on the west and east by the rivers just mentioned, is a flat-topped hill-land, about 150-300m above the sea, wrhile the eastern part, which rises very gradually northeastward from the floor of the Urui-gawa, forms a part of the gently-sloping skirt of Volcano Huzi. This area, which is formed of both sedimentary and volcanic rocks, has been shown by the present study to be separable from older to younger into the following seven formations.
