抄録: P-wave travel time residuals from JB curves, in the distance range from 0° to 40°, along the Aleutian-Alaska Arc and the coastal region of North and South America are studied. Large and shallow earthquakes located by USCGS in those regions from 1964 to early 1969 are used for the analysis. The travel time residuals are compared with those for known models to determine the general structure of the upper mantle. A model called SALK was constructed to represent the upper mantle structure beneath the Alaskan mountain range. In the model, P-wave velocity is higher than that of JB model in the upper 200km, with a relatively low-velocity layer between 100 and 180km. Another model called NALK was constructed for a region across the Aleutian-Alaska Arc. In the NALK model, P-wave velocity is 7.84km|sec in the depth range from 33 to 60km and becomes less than that of JB between 80 and 280km. The velocity contrast between the oceanic and continental regions is about 0.46 km/sec. The SALK and NALK models are similar below 400 km. The observed residuals in the coastal regions of North and South America seem to show regional difference but no definite conclusion could be derived.|アラスカと南米北米沿岸に沿う地域の地震観測所について,⊿=0°~40°での,P波のJeffreys-Bullen走時からの偏差を調べた.
