抄録: The purpose of this paper is to clarify relationship between mentor and students (SHITEI-KNAKEI) of ORIKUCHI Shinobu (1887-1953) by focusing on act of narrating (KATARU) and posture of hearing. The act of "KATARU" by ORIKUCHI means education itself. Therefore he educated his own students by narrating. There were two ways in this educational approach. One was narrating approach in his lecture at KOKUGAKUIN University and KEIO University. Another was dictating approach about his works by the only one student who lived with ORIKUCHI to become his successor. These ways were impregnated through his narration without failing to catch only one word. The students studied his mentor's way of thinking, emotional attitude, and sensuous of body. This way of careful listening was useful not only for his mentoring but also for his own learning.
