抄録: The purpose of the present study is to prepare a pool of vocaburary items which can be used for measuring broad range of ability and construct a scale for word meaning comprehension. After preliminary testing and item analysis, 11 forms of vocaburary tests appropriate from first grade through graduate school have been built and administered. Applying the latent trait model, item characteristic parameters were estimated in each test. Making use of the common items contained in each set of adjucent level tests, scale values of latent trait in different tests were equated. Thus, difficulty and discriminating power of all items in 11 tests were characterized on the common scale. Scores of subjects were estimated by the maximum likelihood method. Precision of estirrates of each test is evaluated, at all levels of ability, in terms of information function. Possible applications of this item pool, for example, construction of a broad range tailored testing, are discussed.
