抄録: Purpose of this paper is to provide new perspective on interview skills as a helping method which is applicable for various type of counseling and consultation. In order to do so, previous studies related to interview skills were reviewed. In this study, in addition to professional counseling such as psychological counseling, social work, nursing, and medical interview, peer counseling (academic tutor and everyday counseling) is considered as counseling/consultation. All of these counseling/consultation are reviewed based on the basic structure of helping model. From this review, establishing rapport and sharing problem were found in every counseling/consultation. However, setting goal, developing plan and implementation for the goal, and evaluation of helping were only found in some of the counseling/consultation. In order to provide effective counseling/consultation, it is suggested that interview skills should be adjusted depending on orientation of purpose of counseling.
