抄録: The purpose of this paper is to explore the influence of receiving the official recognition from the case study of alternative schools in Japan and Korea. In East Asia, alternative education movements adopted a confrontational approach to public education and criticized the uniformity of public schools. However, the government has attempted to build new relations with alternative education movements. In recent years, some alternative schools have received the official recognition in Japan and Korea, and alternative education becomes increasingly prominent. The points that have become clear by the case study are the changes of teachers'consciousness to their own work and parents'consciousness to their own school. In previous works about alternative education, some researchers expressed concern about losing their own uniqueness by the regulations which the local government may impose, and they look at external relations which alternative schools may build with the government. However, alternative schools have to integrate the members into their own uniqueness after receiving the official recognition.
