抄録: To investigate typicality effects in problem solving under teacing-learning processes, recent experiments (Magara, 1989,Kudo & Otomo, 1992) were constructed describing a universal but unfamiliar property of the livestock. Magara's experiments demonstrated that a high typicality instance (the pig) showed more positive effects than a low typicality instance (the silk worm) on learninrg from reading materials, but an atypicality effect was found in Kudo & Otomo's. The purpose of the present paper was to find an explanation to the theoretical problem in these researches, and to design to the theory of an integration of these contradictions. Kudo & Otomo suggested that most subjects were inclined to place high typicality instances rather than low ones in the category concerned in their pre-existing knowledge. In our studies, the pre-existing knowledge was tried to make explicit by using multiple regression analysis, but the obtained results failed to. The next questionnaire is planned to improve for elementary school students.
