The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the factors contributing to the development of art museum education in China. This examination is based on the historical and philosophical development of art education and art museum education program in China since the 20th century. Through the analysis on the history of art education in China, and on current education practices in Shanghai, the role of art museum education in the current Chinese society is explored.
