In this thesis, I present an interactive interface that enables a user to work with a virtual 3D information space on a tabletop interface by combining head-coupled perspective interaction above the surface with a mobile paper projection. The mobile paper projection acts as a physical pinhole into the virtual 3D scene. By moving the paper, the user can see cross-sectional image or alternative rendering of the projected 3D model in the 3D scene. An important feature of this work is that the system does not require the attachment of any device, such as tracking marker, to the user or the mobile paper. Several interaction techniques using the paper are also implemented and explained in this thesis. These interaction techniques are focused on architectural tasks. The user can naturally manipulate or inspect the 3D models above the surface using the paper. Besides, the user can move the light source by moving the hand in the 3D scene. The user's head and hands are tracked by a depth camera and all projections in this system are correct perspective images from the user's viewpoint. That is why the user can obtain the immersive 3D illusion. I focus on the application of our proposed system to architectural tasks. The system is evaluated with user experience and experiments of accuracy. Limitations of this system is also discussed.
