School days'"Proto-Scene" is the mental image of experiences at school. This image has an influence on someone's present and future way of life. The purpose of this study is: 1) to explore the influence of recalling school days on someone's school image, 2) to explore the meaning of telling school days'memories in life-span development and public. In this paper, we argued on the importance of recalling past experiences. We also examined the descriptions of school days'"Proto-Scene" written by university students from the viewpoint of "self positioning" and "life story". Personal discourse and formal discourse are closely inter-twined in those narratives. It became clear that narrative on school days'"Proto-Scene" is made of interactions between individuality of narrative and the institutional properties of narrative. Furthermore, the following two points have been raised as the meaning of telling school days'"Proto-Scene" : It allows, firstly, to clarify one's current position and changes in life. Secondly, it gives the opportunity to reconsider the meaning of a school environment.
