Theoretical Examination of Adult Learning

This study focuses on theoretical examination of adult learning through reviewing previous researches. Object of this study is to clarify main focuses of each theories and possibilities for future development of adult learning. There are diverse theories about adult learning; learning focusing on mediating function, learning as participation in community, learning as cross-boundary among different communities, learning through experience, learning as transformation of our reference frame, and learning as reflection. Nevertheless, in these theories, continuity of experience and accumulation of experience are not taken into consideration. We can overcome these limitations by adopting phenomenological perspective.
