Jahrhundert. Dagegen wurde seine Dichtung im 20./21. Jahrhundert sehr häufig vertont und steht in der Musik heute im Vordergrund. Die vorliegende Arbeit widmet sich der Frage, warum die Lyrik Hölderlins keine zeitgenössischen, sondern erst Komponisten des 20/21 Jahrhunderts angesprochen hat. Die herkömmlichen Argumente, wie Hölderlins geringer Bekanntheitsgrad oder die spezifische Form seiner Gedichte, halten nicht als Begründung stand, um seine Vernachlässing durch die Komponisten des 19. Jahrhunderts zu erklären. Vielmehr liegt der wahre Grund darin, dass seine Dichtungstheorien sowie die charakterischen Merkmale seiner Dichtung in idealer Weise den Musikkonzeptionen des 20./21. Jahrhunderts entsprechen; diese überraschende Koinzidenz verbindet Hölderlins Dichtung mit der Musik des 20./21.
