In Fukui Prefecture, people make various types of co-operatives such as consumer co-ops and agriculture co-ops, and these co-operatives take great responsibilities to build better communities. I mainly observed the Fukui -Kenmin consumer co-operative (Fukui Co-op), the greatest co-op in the prefecture having over 138 thousand members and did research by distributing questionnaires and conducting interviews. The statistics show some tentative effects on parents’ satisfaction and quantitative research also explains that mothers using co-operative services found them indispensable, especially newcomer mothers to Fukui.
