This study explores the existence of technological spillovers from transplants of multinational enterprises to local firms at Kunshan, China, which is famous for accepting a huge amount of inward FDI. Our questionnaire survey indicates that local firms’ technological progress has indeed been promoted through receiving subcontracting orders of component production from multinational enterprises.
