The author stresses the conflicts and compromises among actors, labor, management and government, as the driving forces behind the establishment of the systems. The strike is the first of massive anti-dismissal strikes characteristic to the labor movement in post-war Japan. As such, it is possible to find a starting point for the evolution of the \"\"lifetime employment systems\"\" who faced very unfavorable economic and political conditions won unexpected victory in the struggle and set a precedent for Japanese workers.
