This study, however, investigates how it could affect L2 learnersʼ interactional performance. Inspired by the idea of problem-based learning ( PBL), it set up a communication task involving “not solving problems” and asked the participants to improvise scenes. A multimodal conversation analysis was conducted to understand how appropriate aesthetic distance was successfully or poorly maintained.
