It literally means “[one who is] engaged in the bráhman,” the word bráhman standing for, at least in the early Vedic period, the magical power of the sacred speech. In the Vedic literature, the brahmacārin is used principally in two meanings: (1) “the Vedic student who learns the Veda from his teacher, leading an ascetic life”; and(2) “[one whoever is] keeping chastity.” / The term brahmacārin- is also attested in the early Pāli Buddhist canon. It represents either “[one who is] leading an ascetic life, especially by keeping chastity,” or, more specifically, “[one who is] keeping chastity.” While these meanings have correspondences in the Veda, no instance of “the Vedic student” is found in the Pāli canon. / The term brahmacariya( brahmacarya in Sanskrit) is frequently attested in the Pāli Buddhist texts. Both in the Vedic and the Buddhist traditions, it is employed to mean “asceticism,” and, in a narrower sense, “chastity.” The broadness of its meaning would have made it possible to be used in the traditions. On the other hand, the term brahmacārin as “the Vedic student” is so closely connected to the Vedic culture that it would have been less used in the traditions outside the Veda in this particular meaning.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_4_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15083/0002003755","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_4_publisher_20":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"東京大学東洋文化研究所","subitem_publisher_language":"ja"},{"subitem_publisher":"Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia, The University of Tokyo","subitem_publisher_language":"en"}]},"item_4_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN00170926","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_4_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"05638089","subitem_source_identifier_type":"PISSN"}]},"item_4_text_4":{"attribute_name":"著者所属","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_language":"ja","subitem_text_value":"東京大学大学院人文社会系研究科"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorAffiliations":[{"affiliationNames":[{"affiliationName":"東京大学","affiliationNameLang":"ja"}]}],"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"梶原, 三恵子","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"KAJIHARA, Mieko","creatorNameLang":"en"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2022-04-22"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"ioc181003.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"438.8 KB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"objectType":"fulltext","url":"https://repository.dl.itc.u-tokyo.ac.jp/record/2003755/files/ioc181003.pdf"},"version_id":"ef2b54fc-e265-40c4-a9ae-f8a2e374d63e"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"パーリ語初期仏教経典におけるbrahmacārin- の語について","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"パーリ語初期仏教経典におけるbrahmacārin- の語について","subitem_title_language":"ja"},{"subitem_title":"On the Term brahmacārin- in the Early Pāli Buddhist Canon","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"4","owner":"1","path":["1650613321394","1650612974383"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2022-04-22"},"publish_date":"2022-04-22","publish_status":"0","recid":"2003755","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["パーリ語初期仏教経典におけるbrahmacārin- の語について"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2022-12-19T05:38:24.584049+00:00"}
