A key concept of the theory is “reflexivity of meritocracy.”\nFirst, the thesis of “modernization and meritocracy,” wherein educational selection became a social issue as meritocracy is popular in the modern age, was one of the basic theories in the area of “education and selection” studies. However, this thesis cannot explain the situations in late modernity.\nSecond, the theories of late modernity, which include Giddens’ and Beck’s theoretical works, pointed out the importance of the concept of “reflexivity.” We also follow these theories when constructing our new theory of education and selection.\nThird, Giddens’ high-modernity theory is explained in connection with the structuration theory, and it is found that the distinction among the three “reflexivity” concepts̶reflexive monitoring of action, reflexivity of the self, and institutional reflexivity̶is important.\nFourth, I discussed the theory of reflexive meritocracy in the late modern age, in which reflexivity is radicalized and where contemporary meritocracy continues to be monitored.\nAccording to this theory, we can develop new education and selection studies by analyzing the mode of reflexive self-regulation.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_4_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15083/0002007412","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_4_publisher_20":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"東京大学大学院教育学研究科","subitem_publisher_language":"ja"},{"subitem_publisher":"Graduate School of Education, The University of Tokyo","subitem_publisher_language":"en"}]},"item_4_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN10516641","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_4_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"13421050","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_4_text_4":{"attribute_name":"著者所属","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_language":"en","subitem_text_value":"Division of Social Sciences in Education"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorAffiliations":[{"affiliationNames":[{"affiliationName":"東京大学","affiliationNameLang":"ja"},{"affiliationName":"The University of Tokyo","affiliationNameLang":"en"}]}],"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"NAKAMURA, Takayasu","creatorNameLang":"en"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2023-04-19"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"edu_62_044.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"227.6KB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"objectType":"fulltext","url":"https://repository.dl.itc.u-tokyo.ac.jp/record/2007412/files/edu_62_044.pdf"},"version_id":"36027e3d-d536-43f9-8ba3-e7b42ea1ed07"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Reflexivity of Meritocracy : The Theory of Education and Selection in the Late Modern Age","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Reflexivity of Meritocracy : The Theory of Education and Selection in the Late Modern Age","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"4","owner":"1","path":["1680164636462","1680164586089"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2023-04-19"},"publish_date":"2023-04-19","publish_status":"0","recid":"2007412","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Reflexivity of Meritocracy : The Theory of Education and Selection in the Late Modern Age"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-04-19T08:02:56.113093+00:00"}
