Local religious scholar Bin Nuh discusses standard themes based on al-Qurʾan, hadith, and classical Islamic science texts. For instance, he defines the Prophet’s family, overviews their rights and duties, and describes societal attitudes toward them. His work can be categorized as an orthodox explication of the topic that does not delve into local issues except in minor, extratextual aspects. Conversely, two local sayyids al-Hinduan and al-Masyhur tackle contemporary problems affecting the Prophet’s clan. Al-Hinduan defends the clan’s position as genuine descendants of the Prophet, and al-Masyhur justifies their distinctive marriage rules.
