Mūsā al-Ridā, the eighth Twelver Shiite Imam, d. 818）and his mausoleum during the late Safavid period, using the Persian book on his miracles, Vasīlat al-reżvān，compiled ca. 1720─23. This book comprises an introduction and two chapters. Based on former Arabic Hadith literature and Persian literary works, the introduction considers the preconditions that enable Emāms to perform miracles, especially their legitimacy and supernatural power. After the first chapter, the book discusses the many miracles of Emām Reżā’s lifetime and death. The book is unique as the second chapter introduces various miracles performed by the deceased Emām Reżā, mainly the healing of illnesses in and around his mausoleum.
