When most researchers discuss the theory of the private and intimate sphere, they regard that sphere as a modern family. So, the notion of “intimacy” is often equal to the ties of the members in a modern family. Intimacy such as “affected family and conjugal affection” gives the image as freedom, peace and stability. But, a recent paper considers the considerable problems such as the individualization and diversity of family forms. As above mentioned, intimacy has been given a positive image and a negative image. In this article, the sociological approach, family historical approach, and the feminism approach are mentioned, and analyzed from two sides as “sexual intimacy” and “emotional intimacy”. Through these analyses, we know that “sexual intimacy has an impulsive and unstable nature, while on the other hand, “emotional intimacy” has vitality and a stable nature.
