A)とクヌギ林分(Plot B)において,植物の成長期における有機物層,鉱質土層表層部の無機態窒素(NO3-,NH4+)現存量,総窒素無機化・硝化速度を測定した。両方の林分において,無機態の窒素濃度(10- 120 mg N (kg dry soil)-1)は有機物層,鉱質土層表層部で,日本の森林における平均的な値より顕著に高かった。総硝化速度も(3 - 26 mg N (kg dry soil)-1 day-1),両林分において我が国でこれまでに報告されている事例に比べて高かったが,総NO3- 不動化速度はPlot B(3 - 78 mgN (kg dry soil)-1 day-1)において,Plot A(3 - 17 mg N (kg dry soil)-1 day-1)よりも顕著に高かった。これらのことは,先行の調査結果でPlot B のA 層における土壌水中のNO3- の濃度がその上層に比べて低下し,Plot A ではその傾向が見られない現象を説明するものであった。日本の中央部に位置する桐生水文試験地のような窒素沈着量が少ないサイトとの比較から,反応性の窒素沈着が多いことが,NH4+ の生成- 不動化が支配的なシステムから,それにNO3- の生成-
