Measurements have done with the specimens successively obtained from the pith to the sapwood. Methods of investigation were similar to those shown in previous reports, and the items were as follows 1) Anatomical structure 2) Physical properties (1) The mean micellar angle and crystallinity index (2) The variation of specific gravity in radial direction (3) Shrinkage 3) Mechanical properties (1) Compression (2) Bending (3) Impact bending (4) Cleavage strength (5) Shearing strength (6) Hardness The results showed that neither shrinkage nor mechanical properties represent appreciable correlation with specific gravity in air dry in contrast to the good correlation observed in the South East Asian woods in previous reports.
