Of the numerous solutions of this problem, the graphical analysis of O. Ekdahl, Sweden (1912), N. Mononobe, Japan (1921), etc., show a highly advanced stage of solution, whereas in the theoretical analysis of the problem, that is, the equational expression for the outflow-time curve, nothing so far formulated can be compared with the preceding graphical analyses. The reason given for this is that the differential equation covering the equalizing effect of the waterflow due to the reservoir can be solved only when the equation is of special type, with the result that various assumptions have to be made regarding the depth-capacity curve and the depth-outflow curve of the reservoir, as well as the inflow-time curve of the flood. The assumption of \"Equivalent uniform flood\" by C.J. Posey and Fu-Te I is well known.
