I will explore a conceptualizer in the \"Impersonal It construction\", which is often called \"it-extraposition.\" In order to prove that the construction shows a construal of actor-defocused events and is a generalized statement, I will analyze the lexical feature that some verbs only occur in the Impersonal It passive construction with an infinitival in post-verbal position (e.g. \"*To short-list three of the candidates  was decided.\", \"It was decided to short-list three of the candidates.\") Then I will claim that the construction shows a generalized conceptualizer by investigating another lexical feature of the construction that some verbs occur only in the Impersonal It construction without an equivalent version where the subordinate clause appears as subject (e.g. \"*That everything is fine seems.\", \"It seems that everything is fine.\") For this purpose, I will attempt a comparison of the information structure of the Impersonal It construction and the presentational There construction.
