A group of the pottery of Kabukai-A site is the most important material for the chronological study of the types of Okhotsk pottery in the northern part of Hokkaido. Based on the results of investigation of this site, Haruo OI propounded the transition model of the pottery types and consequently denied the method of chronology of pottery types developed by Sugao YAMANOUCHI. In this paper, in order to argue against OI's transition model, I analyze the group of the pottery of this site using techniques of attribute analysis. As a result, unlike OI's transition model, typological changes of the group are found to exhibit a unilinear and irreversible way.
