What relation can we find between this essay and his \"Some Thoughts concerning Education\" (1693)? In this paper, I have attempted to answer this question by analysing the logic concerning the formation of 'Habit' in these two essays. In \"Of the Conduct of the Understanding\", Locke discussed 'Conduct' which had a double meaning to him-'Direct' (to direct, or direction) and 'Behave' (to behave, or behavior)-as the 'manner' or 'behavior' of Uuderstanding, based on his logic of \"body→mind\" analogy. In this sense this essay may be characterized as one of the \"courtesy\" or \"civility\" books. And in \"Some Thoughts Concering Education\" just as a \"courtesy\" book, Locke had discussed the very 'conduct' such as the 'manner' or 'civility' of the childern. Accordingly, Locke's both essays had one same theme, namely the formation of 'Habit of conduct'.
