In this article, the author analyzes two spiritually based ecological initiatives: the activities of the environmental protection group Earth First! and the ecological workshop The Council of All Being, which are often regarded as practices typical of the Deep Ecology Movement. The analysis focuses on the following three questions. ①How do the ideals behind both initiatives relate to spirituality? ②To what extent are these initiatives institutionalized? ③How do these initiatives interact with the public sphere? This paper reveals that The Council of All Being is highly representative of a typical contemporary spirituality with its ideal of self-consecration through individually transformative experiences. On the other hand, the activities of Earth First! do not have a strong connection with contemporary self-oriented spirituality. Rather, they are based on the more naturalistic kind of spirituality: the belief in the sacredness of all natural beings. This paper also shows that whereas The Council of All Being is a privatized practice based on its commercialized structure, Earth First! conducts a relatively public campaign using its organizational networks.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_4_description_6":{"attribute_name":"内容記述","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"論文/Articles","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_4_full_name_3":{"attribute_name":"著者別名","attribute_value_mlt":[{"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"66754","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}],"names":[{"name":"Kuroda, Junichiro"}]}]},"item_4_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15083/00030392","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_4_publisher_20":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"東京大学文学部宗教学研究室"}]},"item_4_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN10032645","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_4_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"02896400","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_4_text_21":{"attribute_name":"出版者別名","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"Department of Religious Studies.
