This study reviews previous research on positive illusions in both overseas and Japan, and then explores how the definition of positive illusions has been changed and how the methodology of measurement of positive illusions has been developed. Also, the author selectively reviews some of the significant studies that have been made toward understanding the effects of positive illusions with the purpose of showing main issues in previous researches.
