Actual classroom discourse was analyzed, whereas the student's answers in the end-term exam, the teacher comments and interview data were referred. The findings suggest that the student did not figure out grammatical terminology the teacher mentioned as well as the newly-taught sentence patterns and syntax. The research sheds light on the student's confusion between the sense and meaning of the target grammatical expressions.
