According to survey results and statistics, U.S. foreign language instruction is insufficient in terms of curricula, teaching materials, teacher training and enrollments. The purpose of this paper is to consider the current condition of foreign language instruction in the United States from the point of a relationship between the improvement of foreign language proficiency and that of English.
