The control antenna is usually installed at the top of a mountain as high as possible to obtain a large service area. However, a vertical none-directional antenna does not have much electric field strength in the downward direction. This is a problem one should not ignore when using the system for observations. The antenna with a tilt-type radiation pattern solves this problem.
