In 1999, an intensive seismic refraction/ wide-angle reflection experiment was carried out across the Hidaka region to investigate crustal deformation associated with the collision process. We deployed 297 stations on an EW profile line of 227-km to record 6 dynamite shots of 100～700kg charges. Remarkable travel time jumps observed in the western part of the profile indicate a velocity reversal beneath the foreland area of the collision zone. In the eastern part of the profile, travel time curves obtained show a severe undulation.
