The computational area is divided into several regions with different grid sizes. In an open ocean, the earthquake fault model is placed as the tsunami source. In the innermost part of the bay, the inudation of water on land is also considered. The effective friction coefficient is assumed to represent energy losses in water flow due to obstacles like houses on land. Results of simulation with various values of this coefficient are compared with the observed distribution of inundation heights on land to estimate the most probable value. It is found to be f=0.5 for the most crowded housing areas and f=0.1 for other urban areas. The distribution of inundation heights in Owase city for the 1944 Tonankai tsunami is simulated fairly well by the former source model used by the author, provided that the slip displacement of the fault is 1.8 times the former value.
