Except the western-most part, the whole of the Japan Sea has been covered by these measurements. Major features of heat flow in the Japan Sea are as follows: (1) The heat flow values are anomalously high throughout the area, the average value being 2.17±0.40(s.d.)×10-6cal/cm2 sec. The mean of the 1°×1° grid averages is 2.24×10-6cal/cm2 sec; (2) A weak positive correlation seems to exist between the heat flow and the water depth.
