By the dynamical equivalence of a double couple and a slip dislocation, average amount of dislocation u is obtained as u=M0/μS, where M0 is the moment of the component couple of the equivalent double couple, μ is the rigidity and S is the area of fault surface. For a fault width 20km and length 100km, u is estimated as 400cm, which agrees reasonably well with the average displacement discovered by an echo-sounding survey. The strain energy released by the formation of the fault is estimated by the use of Starr's formula as 5.0×1023erg. The energy estimated from the magnitude (M=7.5) is 1.1×1023erg.
