The authors point out two causes for this trend. One is the close connection of planning system related to agricultural land, settlement and ecosystem. The other is the change in the major objective of the rural development planning from improvement of agricultural productivity to environmental conservation. The ecosystem in rural area is often conserved and created by forming biotopes and their network system. A rural village conserved and created the ecosystem inside the settlement, based on a biotope network plan. \"GrUnordnungsplan\" played an important role in this case.
