For this purpose, we firstly define the distinctive features of the exophoric it, which is believed to have the clearest referential properties. We find “definiteness”, “in-human” and “imposter - mismatches between the grammatical forms of person markers and their referential value” the basic features of the exphoric it. Then, we confirm that those three features and their extended characters – “wide reference”, “non-deixis”, “topic” and “human defocusing” - are in accord with some of the significant characteristics of the endophoric it, the impersonal it construction and the It-cleft construction.
