In order to achieve this purpose, this paper firstly organizes theories of educational gerontology in Japan and indicates the challenges in the field of “education about aging (EAA)” for the youth. Secondarily, it examines the field of social gerontology and overviews the theory formation against ageism. Lastly, it raises means in which the youth can study the aged and aging in the field of “care” in reference to Amada’s theory of critical gerontology.
