In this study, understanding disabilities through transactions was regarded as linguistically interpretative acts by agency. Interviews, using a stimulated-recall procedure, were conducted with ten high school students who had participated in transactional activities with a group of students with intellectual disabilities. Interpretative analysis was conducted on the linguistic expressions used in the transaction evaluation (TE), which involves participants mentioning themselves in the middle of an evaluative description of others. Through a qualitative analysis, TE expressions could be categorized into four functions. Consequently, it was clarified that understanding intellectual disabilities through transactions has a circular structure.
