I reviewed the characteristics of his theory through articles published in Monthly Social Education, and clarified the following two points. First, curators are required to play a role in organizing cross-field research. Second, curators are required to work on activities with citizens. Based on these two characteristics, Ito sought to organize a system to support them, and insisted on the presence of curators. Accordingly, museum activities function with the presence of curators as mediators, and from the viewpoint of museum theory, the museum is able to help citizens foster their autonomous abilities.
