To conform to this characterization, I propose an analysis that builds on McCready and Ogata’s (2007b) analysis of Japanese evidential-like markers in their adjectival use, which makes crucial use of stereotypical properties associated with denotations of the markers’ NP complements. Analogously, my proposal refers to stereotypical properties associated with situations denoted by the prejacent of scheinen. Central observations explained in this analysis include the following: (i) the use of scheinen p is permitted even if the evaluator knows the falsity of p; (ii) general knowledge is not a sufficiently relevant piece of evidence for the use of scheinen; and (iii) scheinen can semantically embed conditional and future-oriented sentences. I argue that, in these respects, the present proposal offers a better explanation than potential competitors’ proposals, such as McCready and Ogata’s (2007a) probabilistic treatment, Colomo’s (2011) Kratzerian analysis, and Davis and Hara’s (2014) causation-based analysis.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_4_description_6":{"attribute_name":"内容記述","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"言語学","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_4_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15083/00076914","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_4_publisher_20":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"東京大学大学院総合文化研究科言語情報科学専攻"}]},"item_4_select_14":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_select_item":"publisher"}]},"item_4_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AA11831019 ","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_4_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"13478931","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_4_text_21":{"attribute_name":"出版者別名","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the University of Tokyo"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"OKANO, Shinya"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"154920","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2019-04-23"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"lis1701.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"667.8 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"lis1701.pdf","url":"https://repository.dl.itc.u-tokyo.ac.jp/record/51796/files/lis1701.pdf"},"version_id":"c292fdcb-ab06-494f-935b-402800ffda31"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"evidentiality","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"modality","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"stereotypicality","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"conditional logic","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"situation semantics","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"A Stereotypicality-based Analysis of the German Half-modal Scheinen","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"A Stereotypicality-based Analysis of the German Half-modal Scheinen"}]},"item_type_id":"4","owner":"1","path":["8080","8079"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2019-04-23"},"publish_date":"2019-04-23","publish_status":"0","recid":"51796","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["A Stereotypicality-based Analysis of the German Half-modal Scheinen"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":null},"updated":"2022-12-19T04:27:52.198042+00:00"}
