The study finds that (i) “Japanese” is imagined as an ethnic and cultural sense of belonging, (ii) however, it is not imagined and shared in a civic sense, as national identities in the other countries are, (iii) the school teachers who teach the immigrant children express three different types of national identities : civic, ethnic, and cultural, and (iv) most teachers expect the immigrant children to maintain the ethnic and cultural identities associated with their (or their parents’) home countries. Based on the findings, the article discusses the role of schools and teachers in a multicultural society, and whether respecting ethnic and cultural diversity promotes or hinders the immigrant children’s equal participation in the host society, particularly within the social context where the ethnic and cultural national identities are widely shared, but the civic national identity is not. In addition, the author argues that within an ethnically and culturally diverse context, school is a place where the traditional ethnic Japanese national identity is challenged and reconstructed, and a civic Japanese national identity (which may enable the children to have a “hyphenated Japanese” identity) emerges.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_4_full_name_3":{"attribute_name":"著者別名","attribute_value_mlt":[{"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"155742","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}],"names":[{"name":"TAKAHASHI, Fumiko"}]}]},"item_4_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15083/00077164","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_4_publisher_20":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"東京大学大学院教育学研究科"}]},"item_4_select_14":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_select_item":"publisher"}]},"item_4_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN10516641","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_4_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"13421050","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_4_text_21":{"attribute_name":"出版者別名","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"Graduate School of Education, The University of Tokyo"}]},"item_4_text_4":{"attribute_name":"著者所属","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"東京大学大学院教育学研究科附属学校教育高度化・効果検証センター"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"髙橋, 史子"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"155741","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2019-06-13"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"edu_58_47.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"838.4 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"edu_58_47.pdf","url":"https://repository.dl.itc.u-tokyo.ac.jp/record/52047/files/edu_58_47.pdf"},"version_id":"76442741-91f2-4cd9-8872-5bad2b30c424"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"誰を「日本人」らしいと見なすのか : 多文化社会におけるナショナルアイデンティティと教員","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"誰を「日本人」らしいと見なすのか : 多文化社会におけるナショナルアイデンティティと教員"}]},"item_type_id":"4","owner":"1","path":["8189","8190"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2019-06-13"},"publish_date":"2019-06-13","publish_status":"0","recid":"52047","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["誰を「日本人」らしいと見なすのか : 多文化社会におけるナショナルアイデンティティと教員"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":null},"updated":"2022-12-19T04:28:01.912675+00:00"}
