This“compound topicalized sentence” expresses three meanings: (i) contrasting situations; (ii) describing a situation or an object; and (iii) stating simultaneous events. A mutual relationship among the concerned topics, as well as the characteristics of the predicates, plays a key role in the choice between these meanings.
