However, in the age of “communicative capitalism” when people have access to all kinds of media via digital platforms and services provided by companies such as Google, Apple, Facebook, and Amazon （GAFA）, it is crucial to develop a new media literacy for the media infrastructure as GAFA's structure, function and design characteristics control the content of people's communication. But this has yet to be achieved.\nAgainst this backdrop, this project aims to establish new media literacy that nurtures critical thinking toward media infrastructure not only from technological aspects but also from political, economic, and cultural perspectives. This paper provides a mid-term overview of our research activities that include interviewing those related to the field, holding international seminars as well as conducting experimental workshop events using the workshop programs that we have designed during this time.
