Since the 1970s, curators’ professionality has comprised three elements: researchers, engineers, and educators. In recent years, curators are valued for their ability to form everyday relationships with others, such as general abilities, and they are required to engage with a variety of actors inside and outside the museum. With regard to competence formation process of curators, I organized the discussions on the cooperation among curators and between curators and citizens and tried to understand the process of competence formation in multiple layers by organically joining the three elements of professionality.
