An intensive seismic experiment using controlled sources was conducted on December 14 and 15, 1995, in the northern part of the Awaji Island, Japan, to investigate detailed heterogeneous crustal structure in the vicinity of a fault region of the 1995 Kobe Earthquake. In the surveyed area, 145 temporal seismic observation systems were deployed with an average spacing of 200-250 m and seven explosive shots with 150-kg charge were detonated. The shots were performed on schedule, from which high-quality seismic data were successfully collected. This presents the outline of the experiment together with the travel-time and waveform data obtained.
