| 内容記述 | The purpose of this article is to discuss the history of the University Research Administrator (URA) system in higher education in Japan, which began in the 2010s. URAs are research development and management professionals in Japanese universities who fill the gap, third space, between academics and administrators. The development of the URA system in Japan was carried on by national funds started in 2011, and the influence was then expanded. The number of URAs rapidly grew, and a professional organization was founded in 2015. And it is also important progress that an education program for URA was started in a professional graduate school. These developments brought about a historic change for the positioning of third space professionals in Japanese universities. | |||||
