静岡県伊豆の国市八丁平遺跡から採集された石器は、石器の観察と採集状況から中期旧石器時代の可能性があることを『大仁町史』で述べた。本稿では、複数の旧石器時代研究者によって、この石器に分析を加えた。その結果、『大仁町史』において年代推定の拠り所としたおよそ10万年前の火山灰層の下に露出して発見されたという層位的な所見は、石器の観察によって軌道修正を余儀なくされた。また、縄文時代の石器ではないかとの見方も提示されたが、技術形態的な分析によって中期旧石器としての可能性は依然として残ると考えた。前・中期旧石器捏造事件以後、日本列島における人類の成立問題は多方面からアプローチがなされている。あらゆる機会をとらえて議論を深めていくことが求められるのであり、本稿もその試みの一つに位置づけられる。 |

Two stone tools were discovered in 1967 at Hacchodaira site ( 八丁平遺跡 ) in Izunokuni City, Shizuoka Prefecture.SHITARA Hiromi has mentioned in the "History of Ohito Town (『大仁町史』)" that the stone tool collected at Hacchodaira Loc. 1, may date to the Middle Paleolithic period based on the examination of the tool and the situation on finding. In this paper, several Paleolithic researchers have analyzed the stone tool. As a result, the stratigraphic view that the stone tool was found under the volcanic ash layer of about 100,000 years ago, which was the basis for the previous age estimation, has to be revised by the observation of the stone tool. It was also suggested that the artifact was from the Jomon period, but a morphological analysis of the artifact showed that there remains a possibility that it belongs to the Middle Paleolithic period. Since the hoax of Lower/ Middle Paleolithic artifacts, the issue of human origins in the Japanese archipelago has been approached from many angles. We should take every opportunity to deepen the discussion, and this paper is one of the attempts to do so |
