| 内容記述 | This paper focuses on the political changes in South Korea and the development of Japan-Korea relations from 1979 to 1981. At this time, there was the death of President Park Chung Hee, 12.12 incident and 5.17 martial law, and a confl ict due to the Kim Dae Jung issue in Japan-Korea relations. At the same time, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan raised the US-Soviet confrontational structure in international politics, and Japan’s domestic politics was never in a stable state due to a factional dispute within the LDP and a sudden change of prime minister. / In conclusion, after the death of President Park Chung Hee in October 1979, Japan chose to maintain its Japan-Korea relations. However, the reality was that it was closer to trying to maintain the status quo by watching the consequences of political change in South Korea rather than actively engaging in coop-era tion. This attitude continued even after the 12.12 incident and 5.17 martial law. Such a response will show a temporary change after the Suzuki administration. Regarding to the social movement calling for life of Kim Dae Jung came to the fore in Japan, Japanese government also began to make statements and actions based on this public opinion. However, on the other hand, there were also movements to maintain the conventional form of Japan-Korea cooperation, such as approaching the recovery of Japan-Korea relations. The issue of Kim Dae Jung will create a temporary confl ict between Japan and South Korea, but at this time the framework of cooperation in Japan-Korea relations was maintained consistently. / This development of Japan-Korea relations shows that cooperation is a priority factor in Japan- Korea relations, and it has shown that it has been more important than other factors in determining Japan’s policy toward Korea. At the same time, it explained that the Japan-Korea cooperation during this period was not due to the intentions or positive actions of the Japanese side, but rather to the Japanese side’s reluctant and bystander attitude. It also states that it is a branch point in the development of Japan-Korea’s cooperation. | |||||||||
